FAQ

We are sure that there will be many questions, and we will try to answer as many of them as we can on this page.

  1. How long does it take to get to Hawaii?
  2. Hawaii is located approximately 5 hours 45 minutes from Los Angeles (LAX) and 8 hours and 30 minutes from Chicago (ORD) and Dallas-Ft. Worth (DFW) based on direct flight times.

  3. I just spoke with the airlines looking for tickets to Hawaii in December and they asked for my first born child as payment. Are they serious?
  4. Unfortunately, lots of people love Hawaii, especially during the winter months, so prices head into the stratosphere well before the first frosty morning hits the mainland. The best thing to do is book early and/or look for package deals. Perhaps a candid discussion with your oldest child concerning the airlines' offer would be an option as well.

  5. Should we stay at the Moana Surfrider?
  6. We tried to block some rooms, but believe it or not, there were not enough rooms available even 12 months before our big day! Rooms may be available, but we are not expecting people to stay at the Moana Surfrider, especially since Waikiki has many other hotels which are close by and have better availability.

  7. What is the weather in Hawaii like in December?
  8. At sea-level, the average December high temperature is 82 degrees, and the average low is 68 degrees. It tends to be drier and more sun-baked on the west and south shores of the islands, and rainier and more lush on the north and east shores.
